My mom and I finished painting the master bathroom today! It looks awesome. Unfortunately, I've lost the light for the day so before and after pictures will have to wait. I guess I should probably touch-up the trim before I take a photo too. We have to wait at least a week for the paint to cure before hanging up the new mirror, towel bars, etc. You'll have to take my word on it though, it is vastly improved, even sans mirror and any sort of lighting.
I also finally used up my Amazon gift certificates (big thanks to my brothers and sister-in-law) on five books. Most of the books I got are to help me complete my list.
This is the only book I got just for me. I loved her book on making your own prints and it inspired me to make my own stencils and get into block printing. I made a stencil that I put on the dining room wall (which I'll share soon) and it was a lot of fun. Most importantly, it encourages you to really create a home unique to you. I still want to make my own printed curtains for the kitchen and maybe a stencil for the nursery as well. This book is more about her style and her home, which I am super-excited about. I've saved a couple magazine articles about her home and studio and I can't wait to see them in even more detail.
Off of my list, #30 Give soapmaking a try. I'm excited to make my own chunky soaps with little bits of lavender and citrus rind floating inside.
A gardening friend, whose vegetable patch was always a lot more productive than mine, recommended this book so I'm gonna get it. I'm clueless as to when to actually harvest fruits and vegetables, so I hope to learn a lot. This, along with the next two books, also go along with my list, #20 Re-plant and expand vegetable garden.
Okay, gardening and other stuff. I'm hoping our next house might have a bit of land where I could have a mini-farm. I really want some chickens but I don't think that will happen here. Also goats, maybe a beehive...
My husband likes wood-working and I like gardening. This book was made for us.
So yeah, that's what I've been doing the past few days. I also organized my secretary desk, made a planner, and started to work on my home management binder. It's almost midnight though and I've been updating on this post off and on all day, so I think it's time to end it. Good night!
