Today was the first day of my wheel thrown pottery class. I'm going to mark that off my list although the class technically won't be completed until the end of March. I took a short two-week course over the summer so I went in thinking I would breeze through the basics. Boy, was I wrong. I had a pedal malfunction with my first bowl and the whole thing was slung off the wheel. Oh well, at least I knew better than to dress in cute clothes like some of the younger girls did. They were wrecked by the end of class.
Once I get a better feel for it, I plan to go in to practice more often than the once-a-week class since the studio is open all the time to students. The class is in a sketch part of downtown but at least it's not in Boerne like the other one was. Anyway, I hope my friends and family like pottery...
I'm continuing my work in the office. I assembled about a billion KASSETT boxes today and will start sorting our mementos into them, by year or by event (like our wedding). I'm going to edit through my stuff as best I can, saving only meaningful items. I won't presume to guess what needs editing from Jimmy's items though. He'll just have to do that at another time. Still, I'm guessing the very large, very heavy box of his college notes out in the garage can go. I'll let him do that. I would probably abort the baby if I tried to pick it up. By doing this sorting, I'm hoping to free up enough closet space to fit in the remaining boxes that are stacked on the floor. Then I'll just have to put them in some sort of order (all office supplies together, all craft stuff together, etc.), label the boxes, catalog the contents, then I'm done. That sounds like a lot, but this is as close as I've been to getting our possessions finally organized. My dream of having a place for everything and everything in its place is almost complete. Wow, that came out all Stepford-y, but it's what I want. I want to relax and enjoy living in my home without a lot of projects, the office organization chief among them, looming over my head. Plus, it will be nice to not spend so long looking for a particular item. I spent over an hour last week looking for a 3-hole punch, with Jimmy texting me from work for possible locations it might be at. It has gotten ridiculous.
All right, less blogging and more working. Maybe I'll have some nice "after" pictures to share in a day or two.
