Since showing you my dream art/craft space, I figured I should probably show you what I'm currently working with. This is a corner of our bedroom where a lot of stuff got moved after the office became a nursery.
2 bookcases full of art/craft supplies, photo props, and the vintage items I eventually want to sell in my Etsy store.
The bottom shelf, where things get shoved that don't fit into boxes.
My favorite shelf, where I put the things that are recently acquired, like the vintage tiny seashell collection and flashcards, my wheat paste powder used for paper mache and the paper mache teacups I made next to it, some white acrylic ink that I'm looking forward to experimenting with, and a pointing hand stamp.
The set of drawers hold little collections like keys and bullet casings.
These boxes need to be stored...somewhere.
My dirty secret. I put oversized supplies (cardboard for future projects, my cutting mat) and items I want to rehab and sell (wooden tripod to turn into a lamp, mirror to turn into a tray). This space is between the bookcase and the window though, so it's kind of hidden.
Like my lovely new easel? I bought it with some Christmas money (thanks again, Robin and Jeremy!). I have no place to store this either, but at least it folds down into a compact size.
Future projects - miniature furniture and wrapping paper scraps to redo my childhood dollhouse in a modern way. I was inspired by an internet challenge (check out one here). The dollhouse itself is huge and sitting out in the garage. I also have pretty paper scraps and some vintage books that I want to do projects from the book, The Repurposed Library. I have so many projects that I'm saving/collecting supplies for. How many projects are too many?
Some mushrooms I made out of brown paper bags (more about that here). I'm not sure why I made them or made so many of them. They were easy and I already had all the supplies, so I just kept going. How do you store such a thing?
Anyway, that's my craft corner, which is borderline hoarding. I spend any extra money I get on books or art/craft supplies and I got a whole lot of books for Christmas, so...yeah. There will soon be even more stuff. My husband and I were talking about doing some furniture rearranging, so now I'm hopeful that we can move my craft table back in from storage. That won't help with the clutter, but at least I'll have a place to work on projects without dragging all of my stuff into the dining room. I think I should pack away all of the vintage items I want to sell too since they are just taking up space right now. I doubt I will start the business up until Sam is a few months older at least. I need to store things I actually use.
Oh, and guess what my boy was up to while I was taking all these pictures?
Eating balls. I mean, supervising. (I don't want to live in world where it is bad to make jokes at your baby's expense.)
Your mushrooms look cute. You need to put some on your mantle. And Sam is sitting up so well now. Good boy!
