I finally started work on the guest bathroom, the one Sam and I use. It has been a hassle keeping it clean enough to use every night for Sam's nightly bath. I was hoping to have it done by my mom's visit this weekend, but I don't see that happening now. Prep work has taken longer than I expected. Doesn't it always?
Here are some "before" pictures from when the previous homeowners lived here.
I included this shot of the toilet (no idea why I took it in the first place) to show some of the trim board next to the cabinet. Our other bathroom has it too and I painted it white to match the trim, but now I'm wondering if I should have painted it to match the walls. What do you think?
See the board along the edge of the cabinet? Should I paint it white or match the wall color in the guest bathroom?
To Do List
Take down light fixture and donate it.
Take down hand towel bar, mirror, shower curtain, and rod. (The regular towel bar fell on its own - score!)
Spackle and sand all holes. 95% done (The shower curtain rod took off a bit of wall off coming down.)
Clean walls, trim, and cabinets.
Tape off cabinets, floor, and tile. 80% done (I need to find some more painter's tape.)
Buy new light fixture, mirror, mirror hanger, and cabinet handles.
Buy or make hand and towel bars.
Caulk around ceiling, cabinet, and a few spots around the baseboards.
Tear out old caulk around sink and recaulk.
Prime walls, trim, and ceiling.
Paint ceiling and trim.
Hang small shelf above the toilet.
Hang shower curtain and artwork.
So, yeah, I have lots to do still. I'm trying not to stress over it though. I know my mom will be happy to help if I don't get finished in time. She loves doing projects with me. Oh yeah! Another thing I wanted to do with her while she was down was to make soap. That will be another thing to mark off my 30 list before the big 3-1. Nothing like procrastination, right? I need to revisit that list. I noticed a few other things that I've completed in the past year.
